The UCD School of Biomolecular & Biomedical Science (SBBS) hosts staff from the disciplines of biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology and a small number from physiology. These disciplines fall under the overarching umbrella of bio-research which has been highlighted as a national priority in which Ireland can be internationally competitive. Research within SBBS aims to determine how biology systems operate and interact with their surroundings, which is key to advancing our understanding of health and disease.
SBBS's mission is to deliver teaching and research excellence that fosters discovery and learning through collaboration within UCD, nationally and internationally.
