Deciphering the Networks of Life

Systems Biology Ireland (SBI) designs new therapeutic approaches to cancer, degenerative and inflammatory diseases based on a systems level, mechanistic understanding of cellular signal transduction networks.

Research

SBI research focuses on elucidating the basic principles of the design and function of biological signal transduction networks so as to design new therapeutic approaches to cancer, degenerative and inflammatory diseases based on a systems level, mechanistic understanding of biomolecular networks.

Applications

Cancer therapeutics: combating drug resistance, developing optimal drug combination therapies, diagnosis and treatment of metastatic disease.

Understanding and treating inflammatory disease: regulation of global gene expression in response to hypoxia in inflammation; modification of transcriptional regulators and developing transcription factor-targeted therapies for inflammatory bowel disease

Therapeutic application of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs): controlling MSC differentiation, improving MSC migration and targeting; developing new repair strategies in degenerative diseases
