The wide variety of subjects and the flexibility to make subject choices at the end of first and second year attracted me to study Science in UCD. Following a challenging and rewarding two years of Chemistry being taught by enthusiastic and approachable lecturers and tutors, and a highly enjoyable finalyear research project, I decided to pursue a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry at UCD.
I was fortunate to move into the new state-of-the-art research laboratories at the CSCB for the final year of my PhD. Having the opportunity to present my research findings at international conferences and working for a collaborator in Italy all contributed to a very rewarding experience. I am currently a postdoctoral research associate at the Chemistry Research Laboratory at the Oxford University. I work in a dynamic research group in the area of natural product synthesis and in addition to these research activities, I also tutor undergraduates in organic chemistry.
