UCD Science ranks in the top 151-200 in the world (QS Global Subject Area Rankings 2014) in: Computer Science & Information Systems; Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Environmental Sciences; Physics & Astronomy; and Statistics. It is first in the country for Earth & Marine Sciences and for Mathematics.

In addition to a wide range of undergraduate, taught graduate and research degrees, UCD Science and its seven Schools provide a vibrant research landscape. Key expertise covers three broad thematic areas: Data Science and Information; Environment and Sustainability; and Health.

UCD Science covers core disciplines and applied disciplines including biological, chemical, geological, mathematical, physical and computer sciences as well as finance, actuarial sciences, meteorology and biopharmaceutical sciences.
