Under SIF II, UCD has received €4.85m to date and is providing commensurate match funding from existing staff resources at a level of 100% of income. This funding was awarded to support UCD’s participation in the Dublin Region Higher Education Alliance (DRHEA) – a new concept in Higher Education collaboration for the wider Dublin region. An update on the outcomes achieved by the DRHEA to date, and UCD’s shared plans with Alliance partners can be seen at www.drhea.ie .

Enhancement of Learning
|
- The DRHEA Enhancement of Learning strand comprises a portfolio of initiatives (including Reward and Recognition Schemes for Teaching Quality, Strategic Support for Curriculum Development at Module Level, Standardised Institution-Wide Student Evaluation of Teaching Quality and Teaching and Learning Portal development) which are designed to enhance both teaching quality and student learning across the institution.
- These initiatives focus on recognition and reward of existing teaching excellence in order to showcase it at institutional level and also address strategic educational needs: including the comprehensive focus on the enhancement of learning outcomes at module level; opportunities for staff to develop new teaching and learning initiatives which are aligned to areas of strategic educational importance of both institutional and national importance.

Graduate Education
|
- The DRHEA Graduate Education strand aims to radically reposition the Dublin region as an international centre for graduate, and in particular, doctoral education, by combining the strengths of six participating institutions i.e. University College Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin City University, Dublin Institute of Technology, NUI, Maynooth and Institute of Technology, Tallaght.
- The strand will deliver a cost-effective and scalable approach to inter-institutional graduate programmes.

Widening Participation

- UCD is committed to the development of institution-wide strategic framework to direct, shape and govern the university’s approach to meeting the higher education needs of under-represented student groups.
- Through the DRHEA Widening Participation strand, UCD Access & Lifelong Learning will build on the foundations and experience gained to date, and will develop a coherent university-wide approach to widening participation and supporting lifelong learning.
