Recent SIF-funded initiatives in UCD

Graduate Education

A new UCD Graduate Studies website was launched in July 2011. In addition to more extensive information, the website will include a new search facility for all UCD graduate programmes.

The DRHEA Graduate Education Strand, led by UCD, will run a poster competition for PhD students entitled Future Voices: How Ireland’s PhDs will enable National Recovery. A call for posters was issued in June and the winner will be chosen at an event on 7th September 2011.

Access & Lifelong Learning

In June the UCD Registrar and Deputy President, Dr Philip Nolan, in conjunction with the UCD Access & Lifelong Learning team hosted a celebration of Access and Lifelong Learning in UCD.  This celebration marked the publication of UCD Strategy to 2014: Mainstreaming Equality of Access & Lifelong Learning – Opening Worlds, the 10th Anniversary of the UCD’s Access to Science & Engineering course, as well as the presentation of Adult Education awards.

 Enhancement of Learning

Winners of the 2010-11 College Teaching Awards

The third round of College Teaching Awards were presented on 23rd May in the Contemplative Space in the Quinn School of Business.

The awards recognise and reward excellence in teaching and learning and are a key part of the university’s award and recognition initiatives for excellence in teaching which also include: President’s Teaching Award and Fellowships in Teaching & Academic Development.  For more on the winners and their teaching achievements go to the 2011 College Teaching Award Winners page.

Appointment of Fellows in Teaching & Academic Development 2011-13

Three new Fellows have been appointed who will assume academic leadership in the development of academic practice and policy projects, university-wide, specifically related to enhancing the first year undergraduate learning experience.  We are delighted to announce and congratulate the new Fellows:
