Dr. Crystal Fulton is one of only two 2010 recipients of the prestigious UCD Presidential Teaching Award. This award is given in recognition of the recipient’s exemplorary track record of effective teaching and learning.
Crystal teaches a range of subjects in SILS, where she is also the Head of Teaching and Learning. She continuously explores innovation in the classroom to meet individual learning needs, encouraging both undergraduate and postgraduate students to experiment with their learning by bringing meaningful, real life information contexts to problem-solving. She is also the author of a new textbook, Information Pathways (Scarecrow Press), that focuses on information skills development for increased information literacy.
The President’s Teaching Award provides support for Dr. Fulton’s new teaching and learning project that will facilitate doctoral students’ development as effective instructors through a new course, IS50060: Learning to Teach; Teaching to Learn. This module is now open to all UCD doctoral students.
