Welcome to the SILS Community Network (SCN)
The SCN is an online support network, which connects incoming first year Information & Social Computing students with students in Stage 2.
If you are a first year student
Our Stage 2 volunteers - SILS Colleagues - are there to help you to find your feet at SILS.
- They can share with you their experiences and insights about UCD and SILS.
- They can answer those queries about life at UCD and SILS that you didn't know who to ask.
- They are there to be friendly colleagues.
- They can refer you on to appropriate resources and support services.
Communications between you and your SILS Colleague are mainly online: by Facebook, Twitter. There are online tutorials to get you started.

- Come along to the introductory meeting at 10.00am on Monday 3rd October 2011 in Room 107, SILS
- Have a look at some introductory materials on SCN
If you are a Stage 2 student
- Are you are studying for a Major or Minor in Information Studies and have a GPA of at least 2.7?
- Would you like to help a small group of First Year Information and Social Coputing students to find their feet in SILS by voluteering to be a SILS Colleague?
