Laboratory Safety

The University SIRC Office has prepared a number of general laboratory risk assessments to aid laboratory workers in addressing laboratory hazards. These documents must be reviewed by persons working in a laboratory in order to ensure that they adequately manage the risks posed by the laboratory in question and in the event that a general laboratory risk assessment is not sufficient to control the risks posed by a laboratory hazard then an additional risk assessment must be completed.

Users of chemical and biological materials should refer to the UCD Chemical Safety Manual‌UCD Chemical Safety Manual and the ‌UCD Laboratory Biosafety Manual for information on these laboratory hazards. There are also a number of general biological agents, general chemical agents and general radioactive material risk assessments available for consultation.
