AGM , friday 7th april

AGM, 6pm (sharp!) this friday (7th apr) in the blue room, student centre.Review of the year plus We will be electing a new committee, see the forum for details on how to run for a position. Also there will be the screening of the UCD snowsports DVD "365 days hardcore"! Click here for more details.

There will be free beer and pizza, so come along! All members welcome


UCD Victorious at Intervarsities

UCD wiped the competition at this year's Intervarsities, taking back the title of Skiing and Snowboarding Intervarsity Champions from reigning champions DCU. More details and photos to follow. Well done to everyone who took part.

UCD Clean up at Colours

With solid and convincing victories in each of the ski slalom, snowboard slalom and mixed freestyle disciplines, UCD were crowned Colours champions at the first ever Skiing & Snowboarding Colours in Kilternan.

First off was the skiing slalom where to warm up UCD1 raced TCD2 and UCD2 raced TCD1. Trinity's prospects looked grim after UCD1 & UCD2 both won their respective matches. The slalom proper was run with UCD1 vs TCD1 where UCD skied to a commanding lead by the finish. UCD2 also won their match, leaving Trinity to pick up the pieces, clinching a victory in the TCD3 vs UCD3 match.

On to the Snowboard slalom and with one team a piece for each college, the deciding race was run straight away. UCD were outright winners by an entire length of the course!

With Colours champions already decided the Freestyle individual event went ahead. With a healthy mix of both skiers and snowboarders, competitors had several runs of a course including jumps and rails to show their skills to the Judges. UCD had athletes in 1st - 4th, namely Zak Jordan, Paul Harte, Michael Dowd and Conor Kennedy.

Competitors and spectators partied the night away into the little hours of the morning with beer and DJ supplied as part of the event

The event was greatly enjoyed by all and was a huge success for UCD's training programme, which was undoubtedly the deciding factor in the event.

Livigno balance payment meeting - Monday 13th Feb

The meeting for collection of your balance is scheduled for Monday the 13th of February. It is in the Blue Room as usual. Try to turn up at 7pm but we will be there until 9.

Race Team!

We will continue to run training for our race team throughout the year. Anyone interested should email us.

The race team is for skiers who can ski parallel turns competently, no racing experience necessary, it's just for fun, it beats skiing straight down the mountain all the time!

We will be working on personal technique and will finish up the evening with a few runs through gates. The idea of this is to train all our members up so we can do well in the Intervarsities (February). Racing is the best way to improve from Intermediate to advanced skiing.

We are going to organise lifts in cars for everyone going so if you can drive that's a bonus, if not, we usually have loads of empty seats anyway!

The cost for the evenening is EUR 18, which we collect right before we leave. We meet up at the No. 10 bus stop at 7:00pm every Monday.

Beginner Lessons & Intermediate Practice Signup

Lessons & Practice will be running again after Christmas. To sign up for lessons, send us an email, say whether you ski or board and tell us what standard you are at ( if you are familiar with Kilternan's lesson system, say what lesson you want).

Skiing will take place on Mondays and Snowboarding on Sundays. The cost will be €20 per lesson.

Oktoberfest

25 skiers & boarders went out to Kilternan for the first Snowboard Jam of the season.

The welcome meeting was in the forum bar, and things got very silly indeed!

Freshers Week

Freshers week is upon us and one thing is for sure, things are going to get silly! Here are some of the various promotions and shenanigans that the club will be getting up to in freshers week 

-FREE T-SHIRTS FOR THE 1ST 100 MEMBERS.
Yes you read it right, the first hundred people to join will get one of our sexy yellow t-shirts. There are limited numbers in each size so get in there early!

-HUNT THE SNOWMAN!
On wednesday of freshers week the UCD snowsports snowman will be running through campus. The first person to tag him wins €300 euro off the January trip and a €100 voucher for Great Outdoors! You know it makes sense so keep your eyes peeled on wednesday! 

-LECTURE THEATRE INVASIONS!
The snowman will be attending various lectures around UCD so look out for him :)
