PRAXIS Education
PRAXIS is a project bringing together community activists and radical educators to focus on promoting popular education in marginalised communities. Drawing on the work of Paulo Freire, as well as on feminist practices of conscientisation, and on the experiences of oppression of group members, its goal is to develop education programmes that challenges the dominant ideological consensus in Irish society. Praxis is a methodology for getting people to reflect and share experience of injustice, and to link those experiences to realising egalitarian social and political change. It provides a space for experiential learning and for people to draw on their own knowledge. It fosters critical consciousness and provides a critical resource for other community groups and activists.
