genderSTE Cost Action in School

The School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice is delighted to host Dr María Amor Barros del Río, from the University of Burgos, Spain for a six week short term scientific mission (STSM) this summer as part of the EU COST Action genderSTE. GenderSTE is a network of policy makers and experts committed to promoting a fairer representation of women and better integration of gender analysis in research and innovation, it is funded via the European Cooperation in Science and Technology in the European Commission. Short-term scientific missions (STSM) are exchange visits between researchers involved in a COST Action allowing them to visit an institution in another COST country. Dr Barros del Río’s STSM has been organised by Siobán O’Brien Green, a Management Committee member for Ireland on genderSTE and Dr Ursula Barry in the School. Dr Barros del Río is also a member of the COST genderSTE Action for Spain. Her STSM focusses on developing and writing a toolkit to combat unconscious bias in academic settings and will complement the Structural Change Toolkit which is a key genderSTE Action output. The final Action conference will take place in Madrid, Spain in October 2016. For more information on genderSTE see (opens in a new window)http://www.genderste.eu/
