New Report on Housing Stigmatisation

Associate Professor Michelle Norris won a grant from the Clúid Housing Association for the project entitled 'Combatting stigma in social housing'. The project will fill a research gap on stigmatisation in the Irish context. There is a strong body of literature internationally which examines the problems, policies and processes underpinning area-based stigmatization. To date however, the effect of stigma in the social housing sector has been the subject of relatively limited research, particularly in the Irish context.  Through a comprehensive analysis of the extent, causes, perceptions and implications of stigma in Irish social housing estates and an evaluation of strategies which aim to combat stigma, this research will further understandings of stigmatization in different social housing sectors in Ireland and offer recommendations for policy and practice interventions to combat stigma.
