Students take ten modules and complete a short dissertation of 5,000 words. There are 60 credits assigned to the Programme. Each module counts for 5 credits and the dissertation counts for 10 credits. Of the ten modules which students take, five are obligatory (core modules) and the remaining five are chosen from an extensive list of options. Each module generally consists of 24 one-hour lectures and 3-5 small-group seminars.
The five obligatory (core) modules consist of three modules in Sociological Theory and two modules in Social Research as follows:

SOC 30060 Quantitative Research Methods
The three Sociological Theory modules are all taken in the first semester, while the two Social Research modules are taken in the second semester. During the first semester, students will also take 3 optional modules, while in the second semester, students will take 2 optional modules and undertake and complete their dissertation.
