We are the largest and leading school of Sociology in Ireland. We offer a diverse variety of exciting modules, taught by some of the country’s foremost sociologists and social commentators.
The School of Sociology is a vibrant, academic community with excellent facilities. Our faculty and postgraduates come from all corners of the world which strengthens our ties to the international sociological community and fosters a dynamic and innovative research culture. The School of Sociology prides itself in providing a friendly small group teaching environment for undertaking graduate studies. Students from UCD, students from other Irish colleges, mature students, and international students all mix to share and create a vibrant and convivial atmosphere.
Those students who choose to undertake independent research as part of their thesis will have regular one-to-one support from a sociologist who has academic experience relevant to their topic. We also provide specialised workshops that provide students with the skills necessary to undertake independent research.
