Sociology Lecturer recieves Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge Award

Alice Feldman is visiting the School of Humanities (formerly the School for Historical and Critical Studies) at the University of Brighton as a Marie Cure Transfer of Knowledge Fellow, funded by the Egalitarian World Initiative at UCD. The aim of the Transfer of Knowledge programme with which she is associated is to develop organisational capacity in interdisciplinary approaches to equality and social justice.
During the fellowship, she will be advancing her interdisciplinary work on the evolving notions of ‘identity’ and ‘heritage’ in the contexts of everyday Irish social and civic life typically obscured and silenced by official, nationalist/state-based discourses and practices. This work draws on the experiences and creative agency of both ‘host’ and new migrant residents and community development practitioners, articulated through a variety of media and methodologies, to gain greater insights into the dynamics of inclusion and belonging in contemporary Ireland.
The Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge project will work to enhance institutional capacity in egalitarian theory, practice and equality-sensitive research methodologies and policy practices. The knowledge transfer is based on the mobility of researchers who will come to UCD and go from UCD to other centres of excellence. The seven designated partners include Oxford and Cambridge Universities as well as the Universities of Kent, Brighton, Leeds and Pisa.
