The Solas Study

AIM OF THE PROJECT

This study will compare two different approaches to treatment:

Group physiotherapy

Individual physiotherapy

The aim of the study is to see which of these two forms of treatment is the most feasible and cost effective way to help patients manage joint and back pain.

Research from the UK has shown that group physiotherapy classes, including education and exercise are as effective as individual physiotherapy treatment for people with hip, knee and back pain and cost less for the health service.  This study will find out which of these approaches is the most feasible to deliver, beneficial and cost effective in Ireland.

Both approaches have the same aim of improving your hip and/or knee joint pain or back pain and we expect that you will benefit from either of these two treatment options.
