At the centre of the brand new UCD Sport & Fitness complex, is a ten lane Olympic sized 50 metre pool. With an adjustable floor, to vary pool depth, for user comfort, we have the resources to cater for a variety of activities. As well as catering for swimming lessons and camps and aqua-aerobics, many UCD Clubs such as Sub-Aqua, Canoe, Waterpolo and of course swimming will use the fantastic facility as part of their club training.
There is a spectator capacity for about 300 spectators and the pool will also provide a leisure/recreational facility for staff and the general public.
See: http://www.ucd.ie/studentcentre/ucdsportfitness/ For more details.
Sailing activities take place at Dun Laoghaire, while down the coast, Windsurfing is based at Salthill, Monkstown. While Dalkey is the favoured location for Sub-aqua pursuits.
On-the-river activities for the Boat Clubs are located off-campus at Islandbridge on the River Liffey. Apart from an excellent stretch of water for rowing, the modern boat-house is used for equipment storage purposes and changing accommodation. Depending on the time of year, the club also train on the lake at Blessington.
