Current students Rory O’Carroll (3rd Arts), Colm Murphy (MSc. Sports Management) and Craig Dias (2nd Commerce) were among the victorious Dublin All Ireland Football Championship winning side in yesterday’s epic match against Kerry.

They joined recent UCD graduates Michael Fitzsimons (Physiotherapy), Cian O’Sullivan (MAcc), Michael Dara McAuley (Arts), Michael Savage (Masters in Economics), Paul Griffin (Physiotherapy) and Alan Brogan & Barry Cahill (HDip Computer Science) in the winning squad.  Dr, David Hickey team selector and respected Kidney specialist is also a graduate of the University.

Commenting on yesterday’s success UCD’s Gaelic Games Executive David Billings said “As a Dub and a UCD man I am thrilled that the Sam Maguire is back in the capital.  It is particularly pleasing that so many past and present UCD men have been involved in the historic win.  These players join a long list of UCD luminaries who have won celtic crosses over the last hundred years. And with the continued support of the University we are confident that they won’t be the last. Afterall the University’s motto is Ad Astra, to the stars and these men truly fulfilled their dreams and aspirations yesterday”.
