UCD Ladies Hockey team had a fantastic weekend with wins for all five of their teams.

The first team hosted Armagh who made the long journey to Belfields National Hockey Stadium.

UCD strongly dominated the game at the opening with two breaks from Anna O’Flanagan and Deirdre Duke and 2 short corners in the 1st quarter. However, Armagh successfully defended numerous goal scoring attempts until early in the second quarter, when Deirdre Duke scored the opening goal of the match. This quarter saw 3 further short corners for the UCD side, who continued to dominate possession.

After a 1-0 score at half time, UCD’s Leah Ewart soon secured a second goal, converting one of the 4 short corners that the home team won in the third quarter.

In the 4th Quarter, UCD were reduced to 10 men as Caroline Hill was carded but a further short corner awarded to UCD in this quarter was converted by Hannah de Burgh White to achieve the final score of 3-0. Instantly after this goal, however, Armagh made a promising break rewarded with their first short corner, awarded for a foul outside the circle on Scarlett Holdsworth. A swift break from UCD concluded the match as it had been throughout, with the home team very much in control.

UCD had 3 international players on the pitch with Anna O’Flanagan, Chole Watkins and Niamh Atcheler.
