On Saturday UCD Marian travelled to Galway to face Moycullen, and came away victorious by 84-65. A much needed win following last weeks defeat to UL.

Moycullen have shown a marked improvement in the early part of this campaign, while UCD have been seeking to improve on last year’s poor away record.

UCD coach Fran Ryan attributed the victory to a determined rearguard effort. “The first half was very tight. We were very strong defensively, and in the third quarter we were able to pull away from them a little. We used a lot of players on the day, which allowed us to maintain the intensity throughout the game. I think that maybe hurt Moycullen a little, because maybe their squad isn’t as deep.” Ryan stated.

The coach of the current National Cup champions was keen to outline the importance of victory against a resurgent Moycullen. “They have had a huge improvement. They are an excellent side. They are going to win a lot of games down here this season. We are delighted to get out of here with a win.” Ryan added.
