Ciara Everard UCD rounded off her short but very successful indoor season with another win at the National indoor athletics Championships held in the Odyssey Arena Belfast on Sunday.
In a tactical 800m race, Ciara was running relaxed but in a boxed position. A slight gap opened on the inside with 300m left in the race and the UCD physiotherapy student seized the opportunity and accelerated hard to take the lead and hold it all the way to the line, winning in a time of 2:07.34
Ciara Commented: “After this short successful indoor season I am now really looking forward to the outdoor season starting in May where I plan to lower my times at 1500m, 800m & 400m. I have a few easy days now then its back to hard base training for 2 months and then transition to track work at the end of April”
Many UCD AC members competed at this National individual event and are now looking forward to coming together as a team for the Intervarsity Cross Country & Track event to try dominate as the UCD men’s team did at the Maynooth road relays back in November.
