After a great start to the match, UCD 2-2 Bohemians was how it finished at The UCD Bowl on Friday night.
UCD maintained their unbeaten record but failed but make it six wins from their last seven games and will rue what could have been in this game at the UCD Bowl on Friday nightThe boys in blue could not have wished for a better start taking the lead in just the 6th minute. Free kick expert Danny Ledwith lived up to his name by curling a left footer past Greg Murray and into the net from just outside the box.
The free kick came as a result for a foul on Ledwith by Kevin Feely. The centre back was shown a straight red card for the tackle as he stumbled and tripped Ledwith.
By the letter of the law it was a goal scoring opportunity but Feely and Bohs will feel the decision may have been a little harsh.
UCD passed the ball well against the 10 men of Bohs and doubled their lead in the 22nd minute, Paul O’Conor’s shot took a deflection and found it’s way into the far bottom corner.
Bohs had been playing 4-3-2 since the red card but Manager Aaron Callaghan made a change, bringing Derek Pender on for John O’Connor and Bohs went to a four man midfield which was much for difficult for UCD to break down.
Dave McMillan forced a save from 42nd minute and then Hughie Douglas shot over the bar from inside the six yard box after Paul O’Conor’s corner.
UCD led 2-0 at half time.

O’Conor then shot over the crossbar.
Martin Russell then made a change, James Kavanagh replacing Barry McCabe, Danny Ledwith’s low free kick towards the bottom corner was then saved by Murray.

The Gypsies then made a double change, and it was a substitution that would change the game. Dave Scully and Dinny Corcoran replaced Karl Moore and Kevin Devanney. Bohs could sense a way back into the game.
Dean Clarke was having a good few minutes down the UCD right against Michael Barker, but his crosses failed to pick out their targets, Benson on one occasion just inches away from connecting.
UCD could have made it 3-0 in the 75th minute but McMillan’s shot was saved.
