Four members of the UCD Swimming First Team were in Stockholm, Sweden last weekend (13th and 14th) of October for a Federation Internationale Natation (FINA) World Cup Meet. Beijing 2008 Olympian Aisling Cooney, Lisa Comerford, Shauna O’ Brien and Shani Stallard all competed and set 9 new UCD Club records between them. Shani Stallard made the final of the Women’s 100m Breaststroke while Shauna O’ Brien was 0.27 of a second off an Irish senior record.

Head Coach and Olympian (Atlanta, 1996) Earl McCarthy went with as Coach and was very pleased with the result of his swimmers. He said after the competition on Sunday that it was “a fantastic start to the new season with Shani making the final at a World Cup meet, also Shauna swam exceptionally well just missing out on a National Irish record. A very impressive start for UCD”.
