The unveiling of the very impressive Centenary Wall took place on Friday evening last at the UCD Bowl.

Adrian Burke opened proceedings by summarising the project’s history and thanking all those who had purchased bricks on the Wall and also the designers and builders. Dr Hugh Brady, President of UCD congratulated Adrian on his outstanding work on driving the work to its successful completion. The IRFU President Mr Billy Glynn, himself a member of UCD RFC, then drew back the curtains to reveal to the assembled invited guests the wonderful 100 years history of UCD Rugby Football Club.

The Wall was unveiled before UCD took on local rivals, Blackrock under lights at the Bowl.

Late tries from Risteard Byrne and Barry Daly were not enough to see off a spirited Blackrock side intent on lifting themselves from the bottom of the League table. The 19-3 lead which they held with about 15 minutes left on the clock was just about enough to secure 4 points for them and deny Collidge another home win.

However a losing bonus point was some consolation and could be very valuable come the season’s end.
