UCD rugby completed a good weekend on Monday night with a 30-22 win for the Under 23 team in the J1 League.  Earlier the J2 side began with a 42-3 victory over DLSP in Kirwan Park.  The 1st’s started their AIB League campaign with a fine 36-7win over Corinthians in the UCD Bowl.

Galway side Corinthians came to Belfield as winners of the 3rd Division last year and had already had a good win in the AIB Cup.  However College, playing some fine attacking rugby, soon had them on the back foot and helped by early tries by Kevin Croke, Andy Cummiskey and John Cooney allied with accurate place kicking by Niall Earls saw them into a good position at half time.  Although playing into a strong wind in the second half momentum was maintained and despite a defensive lapse which led to a Corinthians try College finished with two further tries by Michael Twomey and Terry Jones converted by Earls to complete a 36-7 victory.

The 1st’s go on the road to Greystones next Saturday.
