UCD Marian went 4-0 in an action packed, emotionally charged match in UCD Sports Centre yesterday...
UL Eagles’ excellent start to the campaign was maintained with a 88-69 win away to UCD/Marian also on Sunday.
UCD had a mountain to climb after trailing 46-29 at half time and once again 6’11 Stuart Robbins of UL was the main instigator with 29 points in the win.
Tensions were definitly high with a great number of aggressive fouls including an unsportsmanlike foul called on Scott Kinevane for a trip on Neil Banes.
"We have to be pleased with our start, four wins is great and hopefully we can continue it against Elks next weekend," said UL’s Welsh star Matt Hall. "We managed to restrict UCD to just nine points in the second quarter, which proved the difference.
"They had a run towards the end of the third and at the start of the fourth but we managed to hold out and win comfortably enough in the end. We had some great performances from the likes of Stuart Robbins, Neil Campbell and Scott Kinevane."
UCD equally had some fine performances with Niall Meany and Neil Banes stepping up to the strong apponents.
UCD are unfortunatly 4-0 now in a disappointing start to the season. However there are are some surprise results throughout the league that is sure to make an eventful season.
