UCD Marian U20 on route to defending National Cup

UCD Marian U20’s hosted the second round of the Superleague National Cup in Belfield on Sunday against North side rivals St. Vincents.

A very important match for many reasons, first being that UCD Marian are the current UCD National Cup holders and also that the boys have lost to St. Vincents already this season.

It was however an exciting match and everyone were out for the win early on.  With strong defence and good finishing, UCD were soon up by 20 points.

Going in at half time they had maintained the lead and went in 21 ahead.

Tensions however rose in the second half when a invigorated Vincents team had brought the lead back down to 12.

But Sports Scholarship twins Daniel and Conor James were on hand and stole the show with some fine shooting and intense pressure on Vincents stronger players.

The game finished with Marian only winning by 13 but it was a comfortable enough lead to take then through to the next round on the way to defend their title.
