After the strong start in the new Interversity season in DCU, the UCD Archery team presented itself in good shape once more. This weekend’s IV in DKIT saw UCD taking a first place, two second places and another new IV record. As a sequel to the last IV, James Ryan improved his record from two weeks ago and scored 564, achieving yet again first place in advanced male recurve. In advanced female recurve, Ines Rauch came in second place. Like in DCU, the overall performance secured the second place in the team competition. The UCD Archery team topped last IV’s result and scored 2362 earned by Robert Collins, Anna-Marie Donohoe, Shane Keaveney, Ines Rauch and James Ryan.
Unfortunately, in beginner’s classes no awards were given this time. Nevertheless, it is of interest to know that, according to the official list, Elaine Chapman won in beginner’s barebow. In female beginner’s recurve, Anna-Marie Donohoe and Erika Gard took places 2 and 3 while Robert Collins came in third place in male beginner’s recurve. The three of them continued the success of UCD Archery’s first years and all of them move on to advanced due to their scores.
12 members of UCD Archery took part in this shoot, however, the team was short of Colin Travis who regrettably due to unforeseen circumstances could not make it on the day. The team surely made it up to him with it’s performance and deserves the break now. The Interversity League will continue on January 23rd 2010 with the shoot in NUIG and UCD Archery with full justification is looking forward to the competition having shown such good form in the first two IVs!
