UCD were very unlucky to come home empty handed after this away came to Sligo. The scoreline does not do justice to the performance on the day from the UCD Women.

In the opening minutes of the game UCD did not look very much alive and conceded an early goal from the Sligo IT striker. The first half seen many chances from both sides but no score. 

In the second half UCD returned from the interval with rising spirits. Their heads were lifted and they dominated the game during this period. 

UCD got what they deserved when Rita Connaughton whipped in a corner and hit the net. UCD battled hard and held Sligo till the end. It wasn't until the dying minutes of the game that UCD's luck turned around on them. Sligo scored two quick goals in the space of five minutes to drown UCD's hopes of gaining some match points on the day. A very unlucky result for UCD which didn't reflect their performance.
