UCD Ladies Hockey booked themselves a place in National Indoor Finals after beating Pemborke in a close encounter.

UCD Ladies Hockey team tried their hand at indoor this weekend, as they competed in the Group stage of the National Indoor Competition in the National Basketball arena this weekend. College were up against Railway, Pembroke and Bray, with two teams to progress to the National finals on February 6th/7th. The students opened their campaign with a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Bray. Kerry McCommish scoring on a couple of occasions from short corners. Next, the students faced Railway. At half time the score was 2-1 and UCD were right in it. However 3 goals on the space of a few short minutes effectively killed the game as a contest and Railway ended up winning that one 7-2.

That result meant UCD went into their final tie against Pembroke having to win to secure the 2nd qualifying spot in the group. The game was a close contest, with both teams showing some smart indoor skills. Rachel Burke and Rosie Carrigan impressed upfront, abley assisted by Catriona McGilp in midfield. The students came from behind to eventually win the tie 4-3 and book themselves a spot in the finals in February.
