UCD travelled to NUIG to Archerys IV competition producing some excellent individual and team performances.

Freshly kitted out with new club hoodies, 15 members of UCD Archery took part in last weekend’s IV in NUIG. The winter break was not detrimental to the team which took a first, a second and a third place. Elaine Chapman came third in beginner’s barebow while Rachel Schneiders achieved rank two in beginner’s recurve. With her score of 432, Rachel will now move on to advanced. Ines Rauch won in advanced female recurve category.

This time, the team was missing James Ryan, who represented Ireland in the Nimes 2010 European Archery Tournament, the biggest competition of it’s kind in the world with more than 1000 participants in different categories. Short of him, UCD Archery did not make it in the top rankings in the team competition but nevertheless gathered respectable 2210 points scored by Brian Cullen, Anna-Marie Donohoe, Shane Keaveney, Ines Rauch and Rachel Schneiders. Even more important than the rankings is the fact that the individual performance of nearly everyone on the team improved. Therefore, UCD archery is confident about facing the next IV in Carlow on February 27th.
