The UCD Mens Hockey team travelled to Thee Rock to take on college rivals Trinity in the annual Colours Match.

The unusual setting of Three Rock Rovers was the scene of UCD's third colours victory in a row yesterday 4-2 overall.

UCD Men won a cagey encounter 1-0 with Ben Grogan scoring a drag flick on the stroke of half time. UCD were a slighty weakened force, playing there first match since midfielder Karl Smith left for Brisbane as part of a University exchange as well as missing injured captain Tim Hill and John McInroy who chose to sit the game out to consentrate on his coaching duties. Both teams came at each other strong with John Brennan controlling the midfield for UCD but neither team were flushed with chances and after a nervous 35 minutes for UCD a petitrating run from Richard Jones won a corner and the Colleges Grogan took no hesitation in firing a drag flick past TCD keeper Kristan Fitzgerald to silence the crowd. The second half was much like the first with Craig Moore a strong physical pressence and captain Daire Coady showing his experience in defence for TCD. David Quinn reverse flying over the bar was the only real chance for either side.

The mens seconds drew 1-1, Shane O'Donnell scoring a corner for UCD. Trinity won mens thirds 4-2 with club captain Stephen Tennant Humphreys and Scott Baxter on the score sheet for college.
