UCD Freshers Football A and B teams travelled to seperate parts of the country but came back to Dublin with two All Ireland title for the first time since 1980

It was a glorious day for GAA football in UCD yesterday with our Fresher 1 and Fresher 2 teams winning All Ireland titles. Fresher 1 team under managers Billy Sheehan and Stephen Gallager defeated UUJ on a scoreline of 14 points to 1.08. This was the first title at this grade since 1980 and a magnificent achievement by the team captained by Ciaran Lenehan with John Heslin and Donal Kingston as his assistants. It was a brilliant match with no quarter asked or given, UCD held firm to record a glorious victory.

Fresher B         UCD: 3.5    Cork I.T: 1.06.

This 30 man panel under the management of Damian Farrelly, Seamus Mc Daid
and Donal Bergin completed a 100 percent season with a glorious victory over a starred studded Cork I.T under the stars in Borrisoleigh . This was a tight struggle with both teams giving there all. UCD lost Marty Mulvey to a red card after 15 minutes but our 14 men played like tigers to eventually devour the men from the Lee.
The crucial goals came from Conor Quaine, Con or Murphy and Conor O’ Brien.

Goal keeper Brian "Tiny" Nolan was magnificent all season with great assistance from backs Kevin Towell, Marcus Kelly, Shane Kelly, James Killen, Michael Halton, Captain Ruairi Finnegan and Chris Mooney.
The mid field of Barry Boland and Demot Mc Connell and forwards Conor Quaine, Paraic Bannigan,  Conor O’ Brien, Marty Mulvey, Conor Murphy, Steve Flatelly, Shane Horan, Mike Hanaamore, Brian Berney.
