UCDs Archery team travelled to Carlow to achieve top rankings season bests.
Last Saturday, UCD Archery took part in the IT Carlow IV with 13 contestants. The team of the 5 best scores not only collected top rankings again but achieved UCDs best result this season despite being short of Club Champion James Ryan, who was away representing Ireland in a shoot in Italy.
Niccole Barnes came third in beginner’s recurve and moves now on to advanced recurve which is also true of Christina Dworzak. Elaine Chapman achieved again first place in beginner’s barebow. Having scored 450 points, she moves on to advanced barebow. In mixed advanced recurve, Ines Rauch came in third place.
Although short of James, individual performances from the rest of the club were so strong that the team score was the best this season. The team, comprising by Niccole Barnes, Robert Colins, Justin McCullagh, Shane Keaveney and Ines Rauch, totalled an impressive 2377 points, earning UCD a hard fought second place in the team competition and confirming the personal development of several UCD archers. All of this year’s new members who are going to competitions regularly have now moved on to advanced class and the advanced members continue scoring personal bests.
This Saturday, UCD Archery is travelling to the next IV in GMIT, confident of building further on a successful season so far
