At the 30 th Anniversary of the Conway Media Round Ireland Yacht Race 2010, UCD Sailing club had great success against a tough fleet and tough conditions.

2010 marks the landmark 30th anniversary of Ireland ’s premier off-shore sailing event. The Conway Media Round Ireland Yacht Race departed Wicklow Bay at 12 noon on Sunday 20th June 2010. The Round Ireland is the longest race in the Royal Ocean Racing Club calendar. The first race took place in 1980 with only thirteen boats. Since then, held biannually, the fleet has grown steadily, and in the order of 40 yachts are expected to participate this year with entrants from the UK, the Netherlands and France and across Ireland .

The UCD crew members of the ‘Round Ireland Boat Crew’ finished 11th overall on their boat called Water Venture.
