Hailstones did not bother Julie Galloway, an English Channel swimmer, who dominated the non-wetsuit division and crossed Lake Zurich in first place in an amazing time of 6hours and 35minutes

A UCD student recently competed in a marathon open water swim in Zurich, Switzerland. Julieann Galloway, a PhD student at the Clinton Institute for American Studies and member of the UCD Swimming Team, completed the 26.4km race across Lake Zurich on the 8th of August in a time of 6 hours 35 minutes, placing first overall (male and female).

‘The conditions varied from sunny and flat to heavy rain and chop throughout the race,’ Galloway said. ‘Luckily everything calmed down and the last 4km were lovely.’
