On Wednesday, 29th September 2010, UCD Ladies Boat Club were announced as the winners of the Senior Womens title in the Rowing Ireland Grand League.

The league was introduced to encourage participation as well as performance, and in 2010 succeeded in its endeavour with an unprecendented number of over a hundred crews signing up to compete in the senior categories alone. Comprising six nationwide regattas which took place between April and August, each boat entered competed for league points in their individual classes.

Kicking off with Skibbereen Regatta held at the National Rowing Centre in Cork, UCD Ladies Boat Club had an impressive weekend, earning a total of 40 points. A Number of subsequent wins at Queens Regatta (50 points) and Cork Regatta (51 points) boosted their standing within the league to ultimately earn them the Senior Womens title with an grand total of 141 points, 28 points ahead of their rivals and runners up, Trinity Boat Club, Dublin. A presentation will be made to the winners of each category this weekend at the Rowing Ireland AGM in Neptune Rowing Club, Islandbridge. Congratulations to all those involved in this great achievement.
