UCD Marian proved too tough for the Ulster Elks as they edged past the Northern side 91-75.

Elks were able to keep the score line tight until a deep UCD bench proved too much for Ulster in the closing minutes.

UCD Marian’s contributing duo of American James Crowder and Irish stand out Conor Meany combined for 48 points that Ulster could not match. Elks were without their Irish star player Kevin Foley, and the 35 points he put up against Neptune last weekend was something that Elks clearly could not do without.

With only seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Ulster Elks brought the gap to a mere nine points but UCD Head Coach Fran Ryan utilized his entire bench to capitalize the Dublin side’s depth.

“This is a great win for us. Elks played well but we had 11 people and played every single of them”, stated Ryan,

“The depth of our bench was what really helped us get past when Elks made a run at us. It was a hard game to play up there and I am happy that the players are coming along”

USA player Crowder is really settling in well. He scored an impressive 31 points but we also had Dan James who played great defense and kept their American to minimum points in the first half – which made all the difference”.
