UCD Fencing won medals in every discipline they entered in the West of Ireland Open this past weekend

The event was hosted by NUIG in their new sports facility, the Kingfisher Sports Club.

The West of Ireland Open is a ranked competition open to anyone who holds an Irish Fencing Federation license. The weekend began well with UCD’s Captain John Wyatt finishing second in Men’s Foil, and Treasurer Shona Carey also winning a medal, coming third in Women’s Sabre. UCD’s success continued into Sunday, with Modern Pentathlon Scholar Arthur Lanigan-O’Keeffe winning Men’s Epee, and Joana Ramalho also performing well and placing second in Women’s Foil. To cap off the competition, UCD Alumnus and ex-captain Stephen Concannon won Men’s Sabre.
