Moycullen were unable to get their second win of the season after being defeated by UCD Marian 91-73.
UCD Marian proved to be in top form Saturday night with Neil Baynes netting 30 points in preparation of National Cup Final clash with 11890 Killester this weekend. Baynes was aided by team mate James Crowder who contributed 21 points, respectively.
For Moycullen, Mason Ambler donated 37 points but it wasn’t enough to surpass the scoring assault combination of Marian’s Baynes, Crowder and Dan James whose triple-play brought an impressive 72 points for UCD.
UCD Marian’s Head Coach Fran Ryan credited the success to his sides’ single focus on the game at hand and not next weekend’s Cup Final match up.
“We all knew that this game was big for us to win as we want to get that second or third spot in the league” said Ryan,
“We played a great first quarter but let Moycullen bring the score back to five points, we adjusted well and were able to get to a 14 point lead and never look back”.
“I am delighted with the win and that the guys proved they could get this important victory” added Ryan,
“Now we can take a day or two of rest and really focus on the Cup Final”.
