UCD were unlucky to come away with the top honours in the recent Pool Intervarsities in Dundalk.

UCD A were beat in the Final of the Pool Intervarsity’s losing 8-5 to Queen’s A.

UCD A beat Dundalk IT B (6-2) in the last 16, NCI A (6-4) in the quarter finals and a very strong NUIG A (6-2) in the semi final. This is the furthest UCD have reached in over 10 years!

UCD B also won the Intermediate Trophy beating DCU B comfortably. DCU B defeated UCD C (6-5) in the semi-final of the Intermediates after a final frame decider.

Micheal Curley of UCD A reached the quarter final of the individual event losing 3-2 to eventual Intervarsity winner James McDonald of DIT A.

It was a very successful weekend, and UCD were unlucky to win the event outright. UCD’s Steven O’Reilly and Micheal Curley will be 2 of the 7 players representing the Irish team this year based on how well we did in the individuals and how well we did in the team event! Steven O’Reilly will be organising the Irish team for the Pool Home Internationals which will be in Belfast the 15th and 16th of April.

This is in addition to Steven O’Reilly also captaining the the Snooker Home International team that will be competing in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on the 1st and 2nd of April.

At Intervarsity level this has been a very successful year for UCD as they also reached the semi-final of the Snooker Intervarsity’s that was held back in November eventually losing to Maynooth (2nd year in a row) who have retained their title for the 5th consecutive year!
