Last weekend, the IV Archery League continued in NUIG after the Christmas break. UCD Archery was again in good form and collected some respectable placements.

In advanced barebow, Elaine Chapman came in second place with her score of 384. Kevin Roche also came in second place in his category, advanced male recurve, with a score of 537 which is a personal best for him. The advanced female recurve category even saw UCD taking two rankings.

Ines Rauch came in second place while Anne-Marie Donohoe won first place and also gained the red award of the ISAA (Irish Student Archery Association) for crossing 500 on a 40cm target face in an IV. Moreover, these good results were backed up by uniform convincing performances of the rest of the team.

Unfortunate for UCD, UL scored the exact same team score and the decision had to be  taken by a head-to head arrow count in which UL had more 10s than UCD. Still, UCD Archery is happy about runners-up in the team competition since it demonstrated a very good form given the absence of club champion James Ryan.

Also positive for UCD Archery was the performance of the new members. ? crossed the score of 400 in the beginners category and will now move on to advanced. This season’s league is very tight in the advanced categories and UCDs rankings are still promising. The team is in runners up position, only a few points behind UL. Anne-Marie Donohoe and Ines Rauch in the run for the first place in advanced female recurve as well as Kevin Roche for first place in advanced male recurve. UCD Archery can definitely look forward to the next IV in GMIT which will take place on March 19.
