On another great weekend for UCD rugby the 1st team secured promotion to Division 1 of the Ulster Bank League for next season and the J1 completed an unbeaten season by winning their League on Friday night.

The 1sts faced a difficult assignment in Galway against Corinthians.  Going behind to an early penalty College hit back with tries by David Doyle and Danny Kenny.  A conversion by Nialll Earls and another Corinthians penalty left the score at half time 12-6.

 

 

 

Another home team penalty quickly equalized by Earls brought the game into the last quarter where tries by Danny Kenny and Andy Cummiskey, the latter converted by James Thornton put College into a winning position.   A late consolation score by the home team left the final score at UCD 27   Galway Corinthians   16.   College remains at the top of the table with three games to be played.

 

 

 

On Friday night the J1s capped a wonderful season with a17-10 win over Greystones under lights in the UCD Bowl.   The record of Played 12 Won 12 with a points difference of 299 speaks for itself.   The highlight of the game was a wonderful try by out half James Murray which ranks as the most spectacular seen in the Bowl this season.
