UCD Archery is looking back at a most successful weekend in Cork. A small group of 6 UCD archers (Elaine Chapman, Anne-Marie Donohoe, Shane Keaveney, John Murphy, Kevin Roche and Colin Travis) represented the club in the National Student Indoor Championships on Saturday (February 26) in Cork.

In contrast to the usual 60 arrows per person modus, the Nationals had a game-set modus with direct opponents. Each set is an end of 3 arrows, a won set is worth two points while a draw is 1 point. Roughly 100 students competed in different categories and UCD won three of them. Elaine Chapman came in first place in advanced barebow, Anne-Marie Donohoe won in advanced female recurve and team captain Kevin Roche won the advanced male recurve category. Especially the male competition was very tight and was only decided with the last arrow. Kevin Roche defeated his direct opponents in the IV League, Robert Collins and David Kennefick.

The National Student Indoor Championships on Saturday were followed by the National Indoor Championships on Sunday in which Kevin Roche repeated his success from Saturday. Again, more than 100 archers took part in different categories. The competition also had the game set modus and Kevin decided the final clearly with 6-2.

These impressive results show again that UCD Archery is in good form and, in addition, they let the team look forward confidently to the rest of the IV season.
