The team has also secured an Irish Senior Cup final four date with either Pegasus or Lurgan on April 16 and also its first Irish Hockey League semi-final following a 3-0 away victory over Cork Harlequins last weekend.
UCD took control of their tie in Cork in the second quarter when Caroline Hill finished off a strong move down the left wing in the 24th minute. Chloe Watkins made it two within three minutes when she rounded the goalkeeper as the hosts struggled to deal with Niamh Atcheler’s lengthy overheads.
With Harelquins pushing forward, Hill exploited the space to make it 3-0 in the third quarter, netting a bonus point and rendering next week’s trip to Armagh as academic for their own purposes.
Demonstrating the strength in depth in the club, the second XI was confirmed as Division 3 champions at the weekend following their 1-0 victory over Naas. The side has also secured place in the semi-finals of the Irish Junior Cup which, will be played at 4p.m. next Sunday, March 20th in Belfield.
All support welcome.
