UCD scholarship athlete David Campbell returned to the track after a 13 month absence due to injury.

He opened his campaign with a low key 1500m race in Ringsend. David who is coached by former World 5k champion and Senator Eamon Coughlan was happy with his first step on the road to qualification for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“This was my first race for 13 months so naturally I was a little rusty but it is great to be back competing again. With a few more races under my belt followed by a good winter training period I will be ready for my London 2012 qualification assault. It has been a difficult year but the support from UCD’s elite athlete academy has been invaluable in getting me to where I am currently.
