Director of Sport
Responsible for the development and implementation of a Health Promoting University Initiative at UCD in order to create an environment on campus that impacts positively on the wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff and local community. Brian was appointed as UCD Director of Sport in April 2000 and UCD Director of Health Promotion in 2016 and is Chairperson of Student Sport Ireland’s Research Committee. Brian holds a BA degree in Physical Education and Irish from Thomond College and a MA degree in Administration from New York University. A noted Gaelic Footballer, he was a player on the Dublin Senior Team for 11 years and holds four All-Ireland medals.
Sports Development Manager
Responsible for initiating and progressing the development of sport at UCD in terms of participation, facility provision and sports funding. Suzanne is the Athletic Union Council Executive Secretary, manages the Sports Scholarship Programme and represents UCD on the board of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Local Sports Partnership. Suzanne holds an Advanced Diploma in Marketing Techniques from D.I.T., a BSc. Management Degree from Dublin University and is a graduate of the Smurfit School of Business Marketing Development Programme. She has recently completed a Masters in Leadership & Management Practice in the UCD Smurfit School of Business.
Responsible for the Sports Information Office, administration, scholarship programme and Schools marketing and promotional activities. Georgina is a UCD graduatewith a BSc in Sport & Exercise Management, HDip in Neuromuscular Therapy in the National Training Centre and has an MA in Marketing from Dublin Business School. Georgina represents UCD Sport on a number of committees including the Intercollegiate Committee and Marketing and Comunications Committee in Student Sport Ireland. Georgina runs the UCD ladies Basketball team UCD and is also involved in the Men's Superleague Basketball team and is currently studying Digital Marketing and PR.
Sports Education Officer
Is responsible for actively planning, promoting and improving healthier lifestyles within UCD and the local community. She has developed a range of health and exercise programmes for UCD students, UCD staff, and the general public which operates under the successful UCD Get in Gear programme model. Carmel also lectures in Sport Psychology here at UCD and has lectured for a number of years in WIT and I.T. Tralee. She is qualified with a Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology and holds a BA in Recreation and Leisure Management from WIT. On the sporting front, she has competed internationally for Ireland in both basketball and soccer.
Sports Development Officer
As a member of the Sports Development team Paula is involved in the development and promotion of the UCD Athletic Union Council and its affiliated sports clubs. Paula holds an MSc. in Sport & Exercise Management from UCD and is a graduate of the I.T. Tralee BSc. programme in Health, Fitness and Leisure Studies. She has represented Shamrock Rovers Ladies Football Club at both National and Champions League level and is a former Republic of Ireland soccer international.
Responsible for the development of men's soccer on campus including participation and promotion of activities. Diarmuid looks after commercial aspects of the Soccer Club and the famous UCD Superleague. A UCD Science graduate.
Director of Rugby
Responsible for the development of rugby on campus with particular emphasis on the management of the Rugby Academy.
Sport Centre Manager
Barry is responsible for all maintenance and health and safety issues in the building, while maintaining afront of house position and overseeing the recruitment and scheduling of sports facilities staff. Having instructed in many of our programmes, he has great experience in the wide range of facilities and programmes on offer. He is currently studying in UCD, for the Certificate in Safety and Health at Work.
Sports Centre Manager
Lisa is responsible for the development and implementation of UCD‘s successful Children’s Sports Programmes aswell as coordinating the Multi-Activity Sports Camps, School Tours, UCD Sport Saturday AM Club and Birthday Parties for Children. Lisa is a graduate of UCD, and is currently studying Montessori Early Years Care and Education. She manages a team of over 40 sports coaches, and together they ensure the hundreds of children each year enjoy a great experience at UCD.
Sports Centre Manager
Jenna is responsible for all the indoor and outdoor Facilities, and events that occur in the Sport Centre. Jenna is a graduate of the MSc of Sport and Exercise Management in UCD, and a qualified fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Rugby Club Administrator
Administrator of UCD RFC since January 2012 John’s daily Sports Office routine involves communicating with all stakeholders in the Club on rugby related matters. Other duties include pre-match lunches, the Annual Dinner, the Colours Match, away-match team travel and all other club event events. John was responsible for the set up of UCD’s Tag Rugby which has quickly become a very popular student-run sport. John also oversees many community initiatives and fundraising events on behalf of the club including the Club’s very successful annual Daffodil Day fundraiser. He is also the Club’s point-of- contact for the University authorities and represents the Club at IRFU tournaments held on campus such as the Women’s 7’s Olympic Qualifier and the 2017 Womens World Cup.
GAA Development Executive
Ger started in the position of GAA Development Executive in November 2015. A former teacher at St. Kevin's, Ballygall Road, he is a two-time All-Ireland winning footballer as well as a number of Dublin, Leinster and All Ireland Club Championships with St. Vincents. Ger studied teaching in NUI Maynooth and is also a gradute of DCU.
Ger is responsible for the development, organisation, management and strategic direction of GAA games within the University. He oversees the promotion and management demands of the 5 GAA clubs – football men’s, football ladies, camogie, hurling and handball. Over the years the number of teams and membership of the GAA clubs has grown significantly. Currently 18 teams are fielded in national competitions, including: Freshers, Sigerson, Fitzgibbon, Ashbourne, and O’Connor competitions. Approximately 800 UCD students are actively involved in GAA on a weekly basis.
Kevin joined UCD Sport in 2016 as UCD Rugby Officer. His role comprises of supporting the Director of Rugby in administrative duties in the sports office and coaching within the senior teams in UCD RFC.
Kevin is a former player (2001-2011) and captain (2005/6) of UCD RFC, while in UCD Kevin captained the Irish Universities XV for three seasons. Kevin is also a graduate of the UCD Sports Scholarship system. A Sports Science graduate he has extensive experience in the planning, management and delivery of sport coaching and sport science support to elite level teams. In addition to coaching in UCD Kevin is the forwards coach to the Leinster U18 clubs team.
