UCD Aquatic Sports:

Swimming and Waterpolo

The Swimming & Waterpolo Club in UCD provides members with the skills to take part in both of these sports and aims to develop and enhance members’ current skills with excellent opportunities to compete in intervarsity and national competitions. 

The club has also established a multiple squad structure and a performance team under the direction of former Olympian Earl McCarthy. The team enjoyed much success last year, securing the inaugural CUSAI league title and the Intervarsity title, as well as having a number of individual medalists at Nationals and Olympic qualifiers.

Sub-Aqua

The Sub Aqua Club is one of the premier voluntary dive training clubs in the country training up to 25 students, graduates and staff to become fully internationally qualified sports divers each year. 

The club also facilitates training to National Instructor level along with a huge array of specialist courses including Nitrox Diver, Rescue Diver, Diver First Responder, Extended Range, Dive Boat Coxswain, Gas blender and VHF Radio user.

With the opening of the 50m pool the Sub-Aqua club will now be able to avail of specialist indoor training. This is a huge milestone for the club and is sure to enhance the performance and success of the club.

Canoe

The club’s activities take in all kayak disciplines including racing, freestyle, surf-kayaking and whitewater.

The ability to now have on-site training at UCD Sport & Fitness will provide a framework for development of and further success for the club. This year the club hopes to introduce Canoe polo to its menu of activities.
