Facility Rules

General  

  1. The Facility is for the use of members only, apart from certain scheduled activities.
  2. No person shall be admitted into the Facility without their membership/student card.
  3. Membership is non-transferable and any person found using a members’ membership card shall be removed from the premises immediately and the card confiscated. Children on Family Membership categories can only use the Facility when accompanied by an adult of that same membership or an adult designated by the adults on that membership. Details on this designated person have to be shared with and confirmed by Facility Management prior to usage.
  4. From time to time UCD Sport and Fitness may need to increase the price of the membership fee. For monthly membership plans UCD Sport and Fitness will give members at least 1 full months' notice of any incoming price increase and will advise members when the price increase will take effect and how much the membership fee will cost after the increase. During this period the member will have the usual right to terminate membership, in accordance with the membership terms and conditions and rules. If the member does not terminate the membership by the date given to the member in the notice then the price of the membership will be increased in accordance with the notice from UCD Sport and Fitness.
  5. Use of UCD Sport and Fitness car parks are reserved for members registered cars only and is subject to availability on a “first come first served” basis.  Members can avail of the car park for 3.5 hours consecutively and then must vacate for a minimum of 4hrs before returning.
  6. No person shall be admitted into the Facility without wearing the appropriate attire (including footwear) for that activity or as directed by the Management. All persons permitted on pool deck must be dressed appropriately.
  7. There shall be no changing in any place other than the designated changing rooms which include the changing village, group changing rooms and private members changing areas.
  8. It is compulsory for all users to use the lockers provided. All lockers will be emptied at closing time. Items are not to be left in individual or family cubicles and may be removed at the discretion of Management.
  9. The Company will not be responsible for any private property that may be damaged, lost or stolen on the premises. Lost property is kept for a minimum of two weeks. 
  10. Users shall not, while suffering from an infectious disease, enter or use the Facility, nor shall any person be admitted to the Facility when, in the opinion of Management, in an unclean state or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  11. It is the users’ responsibility to take all relevant medical and professional advice to ensure their safety, to verify fitness and to confirm suitability for their use of the Facility. The Management and staff shall not be liable nor shall they accept responsibility for any injury, loss or damage howsoever sustained by any user, whether direct or indirect and including consequential losses arising out of any of the activities in the Facility or in any way whatsoever, which does not directly arise from any grossly negligent act or omission of the Management or employees.
  12. The Facility Management will use its best endeavours to ensure that all facilities, apparatus and equipment are maintained in working order but accept no responsibility to the member for failure or breakdown of any equipment or apparatus however caused. We also reserve the right to close any facilities for essential maintenance, training or any other unforeseen circumstance for which such action is required.
  13. Members are not permitted to provide personal training services to other members.
  14. All Facility property, including towels must remain within the Facility. Towels must be returned to reception upon exiting.
  15. The use of recording devices is prohibited in the entire complex, unless prior approval has been granted by Management.
  16. No food or drink is allowed in the gym, pool or spectators’ area, with the exception of water and sports drinks.
  17. No animals shall be permitted to any part of the Facility, save guide-dogs in service or in training.
  18. Any accidents or incidents shall be reported to the Facility duty manager immediately.
  19. Evacuation routes must be kept clear at all times. Emergency equipment must not be tampered with. In case of evacuation, evacuation signs and staff instructions must be followed.
  20. Users shall not conduct themselves in a disorderly fashion, disturb or interrupt any other persons in their proper use of the Facility or interfere with the Management and staff in the proper execution of their duties.
  21. No person shall commit any nuisance on any part of the Facility.
  22. Users of the Facility shall not at any time carelessly or negligently break or improperly interfere with any of the equipment, furniture or chattels in the Facility. Members who wilfully or negligently cause damage to the Facility or equipment will be held liable for the cost of repair.
  23. Users shall not use any indecent or offensive language or behave in an improper manner towards any other facility user or staff member
  24. Breach of membership terms & conditions, the Facility rules or disorderly, rude or offensive behaviour may result in ejection from the premises and/or suspension and/or termination of membership. Any dispute will be taken up with the manager, whose decision will be final.
  25. Last entry into the pool or gym is 60 minutes before closing time. Patrons must leave the pool or gym 30 minutes before closing.
  26. All members must be out of the showers 15 minutes before closing times and must have exited the premises by closing time.
  27. Users shall not, before or after using the Facility, loiter or remain without a reasonable excuse, on the premises or on UCD grounds.
  28. Smoking is not permitted in the Facility building, near entrances to the Facility or in any area within 10 meters of the Facility building.
  29. Consideration of membership and pool hire applications are at the Company’s discretion.
  30. Access to the Facility is limited to the areas required for the intended activity.
  31. Any alteration to Facility equipment may only be made with permission from Management and then only under the understanding that all will be put back to its original location and format by the user.
  32. Children under the age of 17 are not allowed in the Facility after 7pm, except by prior agreement by Management.
  33. All guests from the age of 17 years old or over must complete a full club tour and sign a guest form in the membership office.  All guests must be accompanied by a member who is 17 years old or over.  Guests must provide valid I.D.  Guests may only partake in fitness classes if places are available after member bookings are complete.  Members can bring a maximum of 2 guests only per visit (in the interest of health and safety at certain times of year maximum number of guest may change at the discretion of management).  Guest fees apply.
Pool
  1.  Swimming hats and appropriate swimwear must be worn in the pool at all times.
  2. All users of the pool and tepidarium/sauna/steam room must shower before entering the pool.
  3. Shampoos and shower gels are not to be used in the pre-shower areas.
  4. Users shall comply with the instructions of lifeguards and staff at all times and with all health and safety signage and notices. No running, ducking, deliberate splashing, jumping or horseplay allowed. Glass bottles are not permitted on pool deck, changing village or tepidarium sauna/steam room area.
  5. Users are not guaranteed usage of the pool in its 50m set-up.
  6.  Management will endeavour to have at least two lanes open for recreational swimming during normal operations. Maximum capacities are as follows:

  1. All tepidarium/sauna/steam room areas, both in the pool area and in the private members’ changing areas, may not be used by persons under the age of 17 years.
  2. Personal shaving and drying clothes is not permitted in the tepidarium/sauna/steam room.
  3. The usage of mobile phones and recording devices is prohibited in the changing facilities, pool area and spectators’ area.
  4. Access to the Children’s Pool is restricted to Facility members and their children.
  5. Adults are not allowed in the children’s pool unless supervising their child.
  6. When attending swimming lessons, children and their parents/guardians must comply with all swimming lesson rules as set out in the swimming lesson booking form

Gym

  1. Only persons over 17 years are allowed use the gym facility.
  2. Persons over 17 years are permitted to use the fixed weight and cardio machines only. Exceptions may be made for free weights if an individual is shown appropriate and safe exercises by one of our qualified gym instructors.
  3. All members must have a towel  with them while they use the gym
  4. All members must complete a fitness induction before using the gym.
  5. All members must get instruction before using any piece of equipment.
  6. Misusing equipment may lead to injury and/or damage to the equipment. Members shall follow instructions on the machine or ask for assistance from the fitness team.
  7. Please wipe down all machines and put back equipment after use.
  8. Members are required to pick-up after themselves and discard trash and remove personal items.
  9. Other members must be allowed to “work in” between sets.
  10. No dumbbells are allowed on cardio equipment.
  11. Members are not allowed to reserve any equipment.
  12. Use of chalk is not permitted.
  13. You may not use the gymnasium whilst under the influence of alcohol or anticoagulants, beta-blockers, narcotics, tranquillisers, vasoconstrictors or such other substances as may be prohibited by Management.
  14. Classes are limited in capacity and bookings are based on the “first come first served” principle at the time of booking.
  15. A proper warm-up is essential to avoid muscle injury. Therefore, no one will be permitted entry to a class if more than 10 minutes late.
  16. Members shall not interrupt or disturb classes at any time.
  17. Class timetables and instructors are subject to change from time to time.
  18. We reserve the right to limit you to participating in a maximum of one exercise class per day.
  19. An instructor may, at any time, ask you to leave a class if you are jeopardising the safety or enjoyment of others.

Group Rules

  1. The group organiser is fully responsible for the transport of the members of the group booking to and from the Facility.
  2. The group shall, upon entry to the Facility, register with reception before entering the changing facilities or booked areas. Registration will be restricted to 15 minutes in advance of the booked time.
  3. The group must vacate the booked area at the exact time stipulated in their contract no additional time will be allocated in lieu.
  4. The group shall, whilst waiting on the premises, remain only in such portion of the premises as Management indicates.
  5. Children (under 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a group nominated person in the changing village before and after the booked pool session.
  6. All groups must enter and exit the Facility and pool area in an orderly fashion.
  7. Group teacher/coaches shall make all participants aware of current pool water depth before entry into the water.

 

  1. At least one coach, teacher or designated adult must remain on the pool deck for the duration of the lesson and activity.

  1. Groups are not permitted to access Facility areas outside those areas booked for use – this includes members’ swim lanes.
  2. The use of tepidarium/ sauna/steam room area for members of group bookings over the age of 18 is at the discretion of Company Management. Children under 18 years of age are not permitted in the tepidarium/sauna/steam room area.
  3. All parents and other persons present shall use the spectator area provided. No person other than the nominated person, coach or teacher shall be permitted to be present on pool-deck during swimming bookings.
  4. If a need to cancel a booking arises on a once-off basis, the group must give 7 working days’ written notice by email requesting the cancelation. If 7 working days’ notice is given, the Company shall try to accommodate them with a new time or provide a refund. If the request is received less than 7 working days, prior, the group is liable for full payment.
